Elizabeth “Betty” Meehan

Savannah---Elizabeth “Betty” Meehan, 101, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the Wayne County Nursing Home surrounded by family and friends.

Friends and Family are invited to call from 2-5 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St. in Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 24th at St. Patrick’s Church, 1583 Grand Ave. in Savannah, NY. Entombment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Clyde.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to the Arthur T. Meehan American Legion Post #1343, 1663 N. Main St., Savannah, NY 13146 or to the Flaum Eye institute 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642.

Betty was born in East Rochester on July 12, 1923, the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Rood Ross. She Married James Meehan on May 8, 1948, and together they raised five sons. She started her career as a nurse but retired from Clyde-Savannah School District as a Librarian. A former Trustee for St. Patrick’s she was very active in the Rosary Altar Society. In her spare-time she enjoyed gardening, reading, cross-stitching and embroidery.

Mrs. Meehan is survived by her five sons A. Timothy (Deborah), Thomas E. (Diane), Todd J. (William Clark) Dr. James T., Theodore P. (Sue) Meehan; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband James C. in 2007; a daughter-in-law Dr. Ann Meehan; a sister Ann Davy, two brothers William and Leo Ross.
